About the Exhibition

The upcoming exhibition at Doge’s Palace, titled “The Worlds of Marco Polo,” will explore the remarkable life and travels of Marco Polo, organized as part of the initiatives for the 700th Anniversary of his death.

Visitors can expect to learn about Venice’s trade and commerce during the 14th century, as well as the influence of the Polo family’s travels on cartography and Venetian culture.

The exhibition will delve into the diverse realms encountered by the Polos on their journey, including different cultural, artistic, and religious practices across Asia during the “Pax Mongolica” period.

Precious works from museums across Europe, Asia, and North America will be on display, showcasing maps, ceramics, fabrics, manuscripts, and more associated with Marco Polo’s discoveries.

Families and children can also enjoy guided tours and an Activity Book filled with anecdotes, games, and tales relating to Marco Polo’s extraordinary adventures and writings.

There’s a event called “Guests at the Palace” going on, from 27 March to 21 July, 2024, which features a public display of paintings that exalt the role of Venice and its major figures in European history and culture, including Canaletto’s masterpiece.
