During the summer months of April to September, the Pyramids of Giza is open from 8 am to 5 pm.

In the winter months of October to March, it continues to open at 8 am and closes early – at 4 pm.

The last admission to the pyramids is one hour before closing time.

The Pyramids of Giza light and sound show starts at 7.30 pm in summer and 6.30 pm in winter and lasts an hour.

You can not visit the Giza plateau after the sound and light show ends.

Tourists are strictly prohibited from entering the premises during the night.

The Pyramids of Giza is closed on Ramadan and Eid.

Best time to visit the Pyramids of Giza

The best time to visit the Pyramids of Giza is between 8 am and noon when the temperature is cool and there are fewer visitors.

10 am, in particular, is the best time to visit as you can skip the hazy skies that hamper the views and avoid the afternoon desert heat.

If you are visiting early at 8 am, we suggest you tour the interior of the pyramids first and then the exterior.

When you finish your tour inside, the skies will clear out.

Weekdays rather than weekends are the best time to plan your visit for a crowd-free experience.

Winters are the best time of the year to visit the Pyramids of Giza, as the temperature in the Sahara desert is relatively low.

However, this is the peak tourist season and the attraction is very crowded.

Summer temperature in Egypt goes up to 50°C (105°F), making it very hot and uncomfortable to tour.

If you visit during the summer, arrive at the Pyramids at 8 am before the temperature rises.

It takes around three to four hours to explore the highlights of the Giza Pyramid complex.

On the other hand, you will need six to eight hours to visit all the attractions in the complex.

During the peak time in winter, the time required might increase to five hours due to the crowd and waiting time.

However, you can skip the waiting time by purchasing the tickets in advance online.

The online tour tickets offer you entry to all the pyramids with one ticket, saving you from the hassle of getting tickets individually.

Visitors who are low on time, wish to explore the highlights of the region or opt for a guided tour tend to spend four hours.

During this time, they can explore the Great Pyramid of Giza interiors, walk around the Giza plateau and enjoy a camel ride.

Tourists who have an entire day can visit the Pyramids of Giza complex and significant attractions of Cairo on a full-day tour.
