Opening Hours

The museum is open every day from 9 am to 5 pm, and on weekends from 10 am.

If you visit Amsterdam in the winter or autumn (with some exceptions), avoid Mondays because it is normally closed.

During peak season (typically from Easter to early November), the Van Gogh Museum closes at 6 pm.

The best time to visit the Van Gogh Museum is right when it opens.

How to Reach

Address: The Van Gogh Museum is located at Museumplein 6, Amsterdam.

Take tram 2 (towards Nieuw Sloten) or tram 12 (towards Amstel station). Both of these trams leave from the western set of tram stops in front of Central Station. Get off the tram at the Van Baerlestraat station.

Follow the grooved paving back in the same direction the tram came. After around 100 meters, you will come to the warning paving.

Cross the road to the left, passing tram lines and a zebra crossing (both around 6 meters long). After around 5 meters, the grooved paving ends on the other side of the road.

Continue to walk to the left. After around 50 meters, you’ll arrive at the museum on your right.
