Table of Contents

Park Guell is a must-visit attraction in Barcelona, attracting millions of visitors from around the world.

It covers an area of 12 hectares and has different entrances.

Hence, to ensure everyone’s safety and a high-quality visiting experience, the park has certain rules that visitors must follow.

This article will explain the important Park Guell rules and regulations, including timed entry, pet policies, dress code and accessibility.

Park Guell Rules

  • The Park Guell tickets provide a timed entry and are valid for a specific 30-minute entry slot; if you are late, you will be denied entry.
  • Once you leave Park Guell, you can’t re-enter it.
  • To enter Park Guell, children under 14 years of age must be accompanied by an adult.
  • The park has certain areas designated for picnics and recreational activities; you can’t eat outside those areas.
  • Activities like disposing of the waste and leaning on or climbing over walls that could damage the park are prohibited.
  • You can’t take photographs at Park Guell for filming or other commercial purposes without prior permission from the park authorities.
  • Pets are allowed inside the park, excluding certain areas like the Hypostyle room, but they must be leashed and supervised to prevent damage.
  • Biking and skating are not allowed in Park Guell.
  • Smoking is also restricted in certain areas, as indicated by the signage.
  • Using megaphones, loudspeakers, or amplifying devices that make high noise to create disturbance is prohibited.

Park Guell Dress Code

The park doesn’t follow any specific dress code. Visitors can wear casual clothes.

However, the park is on a hilltop and covers a large area, so you will need to do a lot of walking, which can be tiring.

Hence, we highly recommend you wear comfortable clothes and shoes.

You must also carry a hat, sunscreen to protect you from the sun, and lotion when visiting the site during the winter.

If you are on a combo guided tour,

Park Guell does not follow any dress code, but some attractions around it do.

For instance, La Sagrada Familia, located near the site, follows a strict dress code.

So, if you plan a guided tour through all these attractions, we recommend dressing up accordingly.

Like some of the nearby cathedrals, churches follow rigid dress etiquette.

Park Guell Dress Code Restrictions

One cannot undress, take their shoes off, and lie in the garden or on the benches.

This is strictly prohibited, and one must pay a fine if it is performed.

What is the restricted area in Park Guell?

The Park Guell has two zones: the forest and the monumental zone.

The Forest Zone covers 12 hectares, while the Monumental Zone covers 8 hectares of the park.

Park Guell’s monumental zone is also known as the restricted zone.

It includes areas like the Hypostyle Room, the Laundry Room Portico, the Dragon Stairway and the Austria Gardens.

Earlier, the Park Guell only charged for visiting the Monumental Zone. However, now there is a fee for accessing the whole park.

Still, some people can access it for free.
