Aquarium Layout

It is essential to know the layout of the aquarium building so that you can navigate easily and see all of the fins and tentacles.

The main entrance is at Moll de la Barceloneta, which is easily accessible by public transport. 

You can visit the aquarium on three levels: Level -1, Level 0 and Level 1.

Level 0

You enter the aquarium from Level 0 and find the ticket office and information desk, along with the lobby, to the right of the entrance.

As you proceed, you pass by the L’Aquarium shop to return after your visit and go to the technical area.

Start your journey and see the technical area behind the aquarium shop. 

Level -1

You can start from the lower floor or Level -1 through the spiral staircase or elevator. 

On the staircase’s extreme left, you will see Antedon, Bonellia and Cala Workshops.

Right beside the marine microorganisms’ workshop is the auditorium of the aquarium.

As you walk out of the auditorium, you will see multiple Mediterranean and Tropical tanks on the left.

On the other side of the floor are Oceanarium tanks featuring sharks, sunfish, eels and more.

Level 1

You can easily reach Level 1 through the main staircase or the elevator.

The cafeteria, on the extreme right of the staircase, serves different kinds of Spanish and European food and quick bites.

Straight from the stairs is the Explora! which is an interactive and educational space for kids and youngsters.

Next to the ‘Explore!’ is the Sea Bed Theatre that you can enjoy.

As you walk out of the Explora!, the Planeta Aqua is right in front, displaying marine life in different climatic conditions and habitats.

You can access Panoramic Terrace from either Sea Bed Theatre or Planeta Aqua.

Tips for Navigation

• Take a map and familiarize yourself with the layout given to you at the entrance.
• Check the schedule for special events like Shark feedings, talks by marine biologists, and temporary exhibits that offer unique experiences.
• Make use of elevators that are available for accessibility and convenience.
• Some palaces of aquariums have ramps or sloping walkways within levels for easier access, so walk carefully.
• The Aquarium provides rest areas with benches and seating where you can relax.
• The Oceanarium is perfect if you’re particularly interested in sharks or coral reefs.
