Prague Astronomical Tower

The Prague Astronomical Tower is a medieval astronomical clock.

It is also called the Orloj, showing the relative positions of the Sun, Earth, Moon and other Zodiac constellations.

It was first installed in 1410, making it the third oldest astronomical clock in the world that is still in operation.

However, there is a dark history associated with its formation.

People believe that the person who made Prague’s astronomical clock tower, Hanus Carolinum, was blinded by the Old Town councilors using a hot poker.

The councilors feared that he might build a similar clock in another city, making it less special.

Charles Bridge Museum

The Charles Bridge Museum is a historic museum in the city that was founded in the 13th century.

Inside the museum, visitors can explore displays showcasing ancient bridge-building techniques, masonry, and carpentry.

The museum also tells the history of Charles Bridge and contains detailed models of the Charles Bridge and Judith Bridge, dating back to 1172.

One of the highlights includes old photographs depicting flood damage to Charles Bridge in 1890, when three arches collapsed and were swept away.

Adjacent to Charles Bridge, the museum extends into the original Crusaders hospital and Church of the Holy Spirit. You can also visit them after visiting the museum.
