The Sagrada Familia is a church where Masses are held regularly. Attending Mass at the Basilica adds to its glorious beauty and completes the experience. Mass is held at either of the two crypts: the Main Altar and the Crypt Altar. Most Sagrada Familia Mass times are from 9 am everyday, while extraordinary masses have different timings and happen on special occasions.

How to Attend Mass in Sagrada Familia?

If you want to attend a mass, you should arrive at the basilica at least 30 minutes before. There are only 500 seats, and they will be filled quickly. Sagrada Familia is a church where there is a mass every day. So, you should wear no-sleeveless shirts, shorts, or overly revealing clothing. 

Visitors to Sagrada Familia Mass are requested to act respectfully and follow the dress code. You can attend church without a ticket, but not the museum inside the church. If you want to visit the museum, we recommend the top tickets for you:

International Masses

The international mass at the Sagrada Familia takes place every Sunday morning from 9 am to 10 am and every Saturday evening from 8 pm to 9 pm. International Masses are held in multiple languages, and you can attend the Mass for free, but capacity is limited. The Mass is held at the Main Crypt, and you can enter through the entrance on the Nativity façade (Carrer de la Marina).

The Crypt is the location of Our Lady of Montserrat (the Black Madonna) and the burial place of Gaudi. The masses are conducted in Spanish, English, and Catalan three times daily.

Extraordinary Masses

On special occasions like August 15, September 24, and November 1, 2024, they call for extraordinary masses from 9 am to 10 am. You need a special invitation to attend extraordinary masses at the Sagrada Familia. Even if you end up missing the extraordinary mass, you can catch the ones live-streamed online.

Mass for Pilgrim Groups

The pilgrims who come to the Sagrada Família can celebrate a Eucharist for their group at the crypt of the basilica. The Mass is conducted from Monday to Saturday, non-holiday, from 10 am to 6 pm. You can enter for free through Passion Facade (Carrer de Sardenya), but the church has limited capacity. If you want to request a Mass, you should file a petition in advance.
