Things to do in Efteling Theme Park

Efteling is a fantasy-themed amusement park with a storybook ambiance, natural settings, and various thrilling and engaging attractions.

They are based on old myths, legends, fairytales, fables, and folklore, making it an ideal location for children, adults, and families on a short trip.

If you need some enchantment and thrill every now and again, make sure to plan a trip there.

The theme park spans 180 acres of land and features five distinct realms, offering a thrilling yet exciting experience for all ages.

So, let’s take a look at some of the most interesting things to do in the Efteling theme park.

Fairytale Forest

Fairytales really exist, as evidenced by Efteling’s Fairytale Forest.

The enchanted woodland is a section of the original park and is home to 29 famous fairytale figures.

Those include Cinderella, Hansel and Gretel, and Rumpelstiltskin. Pinocchio, the newest character, moved into the woodland in the spring of 2016.

Little ones are urged to assist in finding Pinocchio and his father, Geppeto – in a fun and interactive experience.

The Fairytale Forest is also home to the famous Fairytale Tree.

It is a 13-meter-tall character whose branches and leaves flutter in the breeze as he narrates fairy stories to an adoring audience.

The fairytale woodland is a unique experience for both children and adults.

Efteling began in the Fairytale Forest and thus, it is the park’s most well-known attraction.

It displays fairytales from the Brothers Grimm, Hans Christian Andersen, and Charles Perrault in a beautiful natural setting. Stroll among giants and trolls.

Children will be amazed, and elderly visitors may recall stories from their childhood.

The Rok Bird

The Vogel Rok is a 65-kilometer-per-hour (40-mph) indoor roller coaster.

Fly through the darkness in its talons, past serpents everywhere, until this bird of prey, with the strength of a hundred lions, finds its nest.

You will be whisked away on one of Sindbad the Sailor’s adventures!

Go Crazy at Villa Volta

Villa Volta is a Madhouse, giving visitors the sense that the structure, the visitors, or both have been turned upside down.

It was created by Ton van de Ven and built by Vekoma in 1996.

The story of Villa Volta was inspired by the buckriders, a ferocious and brutal band of robbers operating in the Kempen in the Dutch provinces of North Brabant and Limburg.

According to tradition, they made a deal with the devil and flew through the heavens on the backs of goats.

To inform the inhabitants, they would put a letter on the doors of the farms and dwellings where they planned to plunder.

Hugo van den Loonsche Duynen, the goat riders’ leader, is claimed to have lived in Villa Volta after stealing Postel Abbey and being cursed by an unknown woman.

Her arms are seen waving in the breeze on top of the home.

We recommend visitors purchase Efteling Theme Park tickets in advance and experience every magical attraction!

The Haunted House

When the clock tower in the Haunted House chimes, everything begins to move in a ghostly manner.

Try not to be afraid as you view this terrifying scene in the dark. Small children may find this attraction disturbing.

The Efteling Theater

This magnificent show filled with humor, music, and acrobatics will astound the entire family.

Allow yourself to get carried away by the carousel, which conjures up beautiful memories.

Don’t miss out on this family-friendly visual entertainment that speaks volumes without words.

However, remember that you must get separate tickets for the show.

The Swinging Ship

The famed Dutch East India Company ship, the Halve Maen, is stationed in the picturesque Dutch harbor.

Only the bravest board the world’s largest swinging ship, which takes you weightless to incredible heights with a 90° slant before safely returning to dock.

Exciting rushes for thrill seekers

There are lots of thrills at Efteling for those who dare.

There are various rollercoasters and other terrifying attractions to get your heart pounding.

Python (Steel Roller Coaster)

Survive the Python’s stranglehold twists and turns at unbelievable heights.

The Python rollercoaster is the fastest in the Efteling theme park.

With its double loop and two corkscrews, this high-speed rollercoaster will take you to new heights.

The ride was updated in 2018, although the most crucial aspects of the ride have remained the same.

Daredevils seeking a thrill owe it to themselves to try this ride.

The ride is not as nicely themed as the other rides in Efteling, but it will provide you with the adrenaline rush you’ve been craving.

The Water Coaster (De Vliegende Hollander)

The Flying Dutchman (De Vliegende Hollander) is a spectacular water coaster that combines classic dark ride aesthetics with the adrenaline rush of a water coaster experience.

The journey is based on Captain Willem Van Der Decken, who set sail on his ship “De-Hollander” expecting to find money and riches despite the lousy weather.

His greed was so overwhelming that he ordered his crew to sail on Easter Sunday, even though it was unlawful.

Since that day, everyone on board has been destined to sail on this ghost ship, De Vliegende Hollander, forever on the seven seas.

The Diver Coaster (Baron 1898)

Baron 1898 is a dive coaster that drops you at 90 km/h from 37,50 meters down a mine shaft in 130 seconds.

It is one of Europe’s best dive coasters and the best coaster at Efteling.

The journey begins with two pre-shows describing the history of the mine you will visit.

When you board, you gradually ascend to the top of the first hill, bracing yourself for an 87-degree vertical drop.

If sitting at the front makes you nervous, we don’t recommend it on your first ride, but we do recommend it on your second!

Wooden Roller Coaster (Joris en de Draak)

Kill the dragon that’s wreaking damage on the kingdom.

All warriors are instructed to pick one of the tracks and hunt the beast with water or fire.

Only those who complete this double-track wooden racing rollercoaster at 70 kph (45 mph) will be well rewarded.

Max and Moritz (Family Roller Coaster)

The Max & Moritz double roller coaster will provide you and your entire family with an intense and chaotic ride full of stunts.

Escape from the cuckoo clock workshop in one of Max and Moritz’s soapboxes.

Visitors can check out the Efteling rides page to learn more about the rides before your visit.

Gondoletta

Board a Gondoletta and unwind for the 20-minute trip.

You will be surrounded by music while cruising past lovely colored flowerbeds and seeing little critters frolic on the lake.

The flora is designed in such a way that it draws the wildlife naturally.

Pagode

While the Thai temple spins at a height of 45 meters, take in stunning views of the entire Efteling and its surroundings.

Enter the Symbolica Magical World

Symbolica is a trackless dark ride that transports you to a fantastic castle packed with magnificent halls, secret tunnels, mesmerizing fairies, butterflies, a giant whale, a King’s feast, and much more.

As soon as you enter the Palace of Fantasy, you are greeted by an entertaining pre-show led by two animatronics.

Following the pre-show, you can enter the castle and select one of three possible scenarios to play out on the attraction: Musical, Heroes, or Treasure.

Because each scenario has its own unique features, you must ride all three courses to receive the complete experience of this attraction.

This attraction was expected to cost €35 million to build.

There are large crowds gathered outside the attraction. That is why you must wait in line for at least a half-hour to enter the attraction!

We recommend booking a day trip to the Efteling and escaping into a world of enhancement.

Discover Fata Morgana’s Lost City

This midnight boat journey will whisk you away to the classic Far East.

On your voyage, you will notice a tremendous discrepancy between the wealthy and the poor as the Sultan surrounds himself with gems, treasure, and other luxuries.

The boat takes you through wealthy and poor areas, where a giant protects the Sultan’s most treasured possessions: gems, jewelry, and gold coins.

Enjoy the Stunning Aquanura

You can’t leave Efteling without experiencing Europe’s largest water show (the world’s third largest after Las Vegas and Dubai).

Four gorgeous singing frogs enchant the audience with a dance retelling the Efteling folk tale.

Witness this fantastic spectacle combining water, fire, light, and music.

During this 12-minute Efteling medley, more than 200 fountains and 900 lights transport you to another universe.
