How long does it take to visit the Uffizi?

The collection in the Uffizi is so enormous that visiting the museum could take all day. 

We recommend allotting at least 3–4 hours for your tour of the Uffizi, stopping to admire the masterpieces.

Even if you’re short on time and only want to watch the highlights, allow at least two hours. Follow this schedule to find and view the Uffizi’s main masterpieces.

Is it possible to visit other museums in Florence on the same day?

Yes, you can easily explore other museums and the Uffizi Gallery in one day.

Various guided tours are available online to spend a full day in Florence.

However, beware of ‘art fatigue’ before planning your museum visits in Florence.

We recommend visiting no more than two museums daily (1 in the morning and 1 in the afternoon). 

When does the Uffizi open?

The Uffizi is open from 8.15 am to 6.50 pm Tuesday through Sunday.
Mondays are, therefore, closed.

Is there a huge line/wait to go inside the Uffizi?

The main entrance to the Uffizi is for those who purchase their tickets directly at the Uffizi. 

Many people choose to buy tickets once they arrive in Florence, not knowing when they will be able to visit the museum and preferring to be flexible on date and time. 

This results in long lines.

Why are there long lines at the Uffizi?

Can I photograph or film inside the Uffizi Gallery?

Yes. Since July 2014, visitors have been able to take photographs within the Uffizi Gallery. 

When taking photos, please be considerate of other guests. 

The use of “selfie sticks” is not permitted inside the museum. You also cannot use a tripod.

Is there an audio guide available inside the museum?

Yes, audio tours are available for rent at the Uffizi. 

After entering the museum, check the audio guide desk next to the cloakroom to hire one or two audio guides before proceeding upstairs to begin your journey.

You can also purchase the entry ticket with an audio guide online to avoid the hassles onsite.

Are there any special openings at the Uffizi Gallery?

In the case of particular events or times of the year, the Uffizi Gallery may have variable hours of operation.

Are there any security measures in Uffizi?

Visitors will be required to show their Green Pass upon arrival. A metal detector is also installed on the grounds. Please do not bring large bags or lengthy umbrellas.

Is a cloakroom service available at Uffizi?

Visitors are welcome to use the free cloakroom service on the ground level to store bulky goods during their stay (maximum dimensions: 40 x 40 x 50cm).

Can I bring my dog or pet to the museums and the Boboli Gardens?

Animals, except guide dogs for the blind, service dogs for the disabled, and pets for medical or therapeutic reasons with a certificate provided by doctors from public health services, are not permitted inside.

What rules must visitors follow when visiting the Uffizi Galleries?

Visitors are permitted to take amateur images and movies within our buildings for personal or research purposes. It is forbidden to utilize flash, stands, tripods, or selfie sticks.

Do the Uffizi Galleries offer guided tours?

The permanent collection of the Uffizi Galleries is not covered by guided tours.

What is the procedure for renting an audio guide in Uffizi?

Audio and video guides are a non-bookable paid service that visitors with an original legal ID document can rent.

Visitors to the Uffizi Galleries can obtain audio tours immediately or reserve in advance. 

Italian, English, French, Spanish, German, Polish, Russian, and Japanese audio guides are provided. The audio guide rental service is available until 5 pm.
