Here are the top places to visit near Palma Cathedral

The Royal Palace of La Almudaina

The Royal Palace of La Almudaina is one of the official residences of the Spanish royal family

It is categorized as an Alcázar or a fortified palace. It is in Palma, the capital city of the Island of Mallorca, Spain.

The Royal Palace of La Almudaina is located just across from the Palma Cathedral and is one of the capital’s main attractions.

Its elevated position overlooking the Bay of Palma made it strategically important throughout the ages.

The word ‘Almudaina’ comes from the Arabic word for ‘fortress.’

The Talayots, Romans, Moors, and Christians used the same site.

In the 13th century, when the Christians took over the island, they demolished the Moorish features of the palace.

Under King Jaume II, the castle adopted the Levantine Gothic style.

The Almudaina palace is open from Tuesday to Sunday from 10.00 am to 6 pm from October to March and 10 am to 8 pm from April to September.

The palace remains closed on Mondays.

If you are visiting Palma de Mallorca to absorb the history and culture of the place, you must visit the Palma Cathedral and the Almudaina Palace.

The  Peurt de Palma is the biggest of the five ports managed by the Port Authority of the Balearic Islands.

It is in the middle of the city, just in front of the old streets that make up the Old Town.

The waterfront promenade connects the entire port from one end to the other.

The Peurt de Palma combines tradition and the latest technology to perfection and is the physical demonstration of the Mediterranean philosophy of unhurried and calm.

Yet its modern character makes it highly famous amongst its inhabitants and visitors.

One can book cruises and jet skis from the port. These are usually very exciting and once-in-a-lifetime activities.

Most cruises have DJs and good food that could enhance your Mallorcan getaway.

The port also provides a fantastic view of the gothic structure, the Palma Cathedral, which stands tall on the bay.
