St. Mark’s Basilica is one of the oldest and most important churches in Christianity.

Located in Venice, Italy, it houses many invaluable treasures collected throughout the centuries.

These special and valuable things lie in St. Mark’s like hidden treasures.

The St. Mark’s Basilica Treasury consists of 283 pieces of gold, silver, and other precious metals.

It also houses the crystal relics of St. Mark’s and other precious items.

These items are of four types: antiquity and early Middle Ages objects, Byzantine goldsmiths’ works, objects from Islamic art; and objects of Western origin.

The treasured items were looted by Napoleon when France invaded Venice.

However, the church received some of these artifacts in 1798.

During 1815 and 1819, it sacrificed some items to pay for the restoration and renovation works of the cathedral.

What does the Treasury signify?

It contains several centuries of history, and it is a representation of the faith and prosperity of the city.

The Treasury of St. Mark’s Basilica is one of the most significant things this city holds dear and a must-visit place for tourists.
