Barcelona Cable Car Route

Barcelona offers  Montjuïc Cable Car (Telefèric de Montjuïc) and the Barcelona Port Cable Car (Port Vell Aerial Tramway), attracting a collective annual footfall of 1.5 million visitors.

Barcelona’s Port Cable Car goes from Port Vell Barcelona to Montjuic Hill. Get Directions.

While the Montjuic Cable Car departs from Parc Montjuic to Castell de Montjuïc (Montjuic Castle). Get Directions.

You can take a Montjuic cable car at any of the three stations—Parc Montjuic, Castell, or Mirador—and begin your journey there.

No matter where you start or end, you’ll traverse this path once:

  • Parc de Montjuïc Base → Castell stop, Mirador stop and back to Parc de Montjuic Stop
  • Castell stop →  Mirador stop then Parc de Montjuïc Base.
  • Mirador stop →  Castell stop then Mirador stop and end at  Parc de Montjuïc Base.

Most visitors prefer the Parc de Montjuïc as it is the starting station at Montjuïc Mountain’s foothills.

This strategic location provides easy access for travelers to board the cable car and begin their ascent.

The Montjuic Cable Car reaches the Montjuic hilltop directly with no stops.

The final destination of the Barcelona Cable Car is the Castell stop, the last stop of the Montjuic cable car.

You can get off at the Castell stop, walk a short distance to the Montjuic castle’s entrance and explore the Montjuic castle.

Wander around and explore gardens like the Botanical Garden, Joan Brossa Gardens, and Mossèn Cinto Verdaguer Gardens, within walking distance from Castell stop.

On your return trip down Montjuic Hill to the beach, you can halt at the optional stop of Mirador de l’Alcalde.

You can depart at the Mirador stop to take some rest. It is situated beside Montjuïc sanctuaries, where you can explore the new plant life.

Cherish the views of Mirador de l’Alcalde, Miramar Gardens and Mossèn Costa I Llobera Gardens.

Those choosing the Mirador stop can rejoin the cable car.

The return route of the Montjuic Cable Car concludes at Parc de Montjuïc Base station, completing the roundtrip journey.
