How to Get to St. Mark’s Basilica in Venice?

For starters, you must fly into Venice by taking a plane to Marco Polo Airport.

The airport is on the mainland, near Venice.

From there, you can take a bus, taxi, or water taxi to Venice.

It will take about 30 minutes to get to the city.

By Ferry

Exploring Venice by water is a fantastic experience – the perfect way to enjoy the city’s beauty.

Getting around Venice is easy if you take a ferry.

The city is like a big puzzle with lots of rivers and canals, and a ferry (Vaporetto) is the best way to get where you need to go.

Departing from the Santa Lucia train station, you can hop on one of the many ferries available and get off at either the San Marco or San Zaccaria ferry stations.

From there, it’s just a short walk to St. Mark’s Basilica, making it easy to explore this iconic site.

Alternatively, you can get to the Ferrovia ‘B’ boat port near the Santa Lucia train station by walking from the center of Venice.

Then, get on the No. 2 boat at the Rialto ferry terminal and get off after a few minutes. 

It will take you around half an hour to get to St. Mark’s Basilica if you walk from the boat dock.

From there, it’s just a short walk to St. Mark’s Basilica, making it easy to explore this iconic site.

You can also use water taxis anchored outside the arrival area, and they can get to any location in the city in 20 minutes.

If you want to go to St. Mark’s Basilica by bus, you can take the ACTV line 5 or the ATVO.

The ACTV takes around 35 to 40 minutes, and the ATVO takes about 25 minutes.

If you arrive at night after midnight, you can take a taxi and it will take about 20 minutes to get to Piazzale Roma.
