Immersive Learning at Barcelona Aquarium Underwater Schools

Barcelona Aquarium is dedicated to teaching people about the environment. 

It provides educational programs suited for families and schools, offering insightful information on ecosystem dynamics, marine conservation, and the significance of protecting our seas for coming generations.

The Aquàrium has carefully considered educating about species, which will excite you if you’re visiting with kids or if you’re a teacher bringing a class of students. 

Numerous events are planned, and a dedicated kids’ section is highly present here. 

Different schools for different ages are the highlight of this education program:

Infant School

Feeling, seeing, experiencing… 

Children can learn about some of the most significant facets of marine life through a comprehensive schedule of activities designed by the education team.

Different experimental workshops, theater activities and tours exist, especially for children 3 to 6 years old.

Activities Included:

  • Age Group 3 to 6 years: The Stars and the Sea activity has a maximum capacity of 25, lasts about 45 minutes and costs €11 per person.
  • Age Group 4 to 6 years: The Shark Fin and Penguin Footprint each accommodate 25 people and last 45 minutes, while Dance the Mediterranean accommodates 30 people and lasts 60 minutes. Tickets for these experiences cost €11 per person.
  • Age Group Upper infant and lower primary: The Interactive Science Theatre can accommodate 50 participants and lasts for two hours. Similarly, A trip to the country of Marmara accommodates 100 people and lasts for two hours. These experiences cost €12.60.

Primary School

You can learn about fish, colors, shapes, feelings, sounds, emotions, laughing, experiences, and more by taking your primary students to L’Aquàrium de Barcelona.

Using observational games, students can learn about the survival methods employed by marine species. 

Working groups will simulate various feeding techniques and study eggs from multiple creatures to learn about their reproduction. 

You will also learn to identify various defense mechanisms based on these organisms’ relationships with one another and the environment.

Activities Included:

  • Investigating Sharks
  • Survive! The Behaviour Game
  • Exploring the Beach
  • Discovering the Vertebrates

All of the above activities have a maximum capacity of 25 students, a duration of two hours and cost around €12 per individual.

Secondary School

Here, you can take a plunge into the marine realm to explore the fantastic world of aquatic life in a unique way.

By examining statistical data pertaining to attacks and captures of these cartilaginous fish, students will learn about sharks’ biology. 

Using a binocular magnifying lens, you will examine biological material (tooth samples, different scales, etc.) up close. 

You will also consider their place in the marine ecosystem and examine the primary factors that have contributed to the fall in their populations.

Activities Included:

  • Sharks Predators or Prey (12 to 14 years): This activity accommodates a maximum of 25 students for a 2.5-hour session priced at €12.60.
  • The World of Fish (12 to 14 years): This educational experience has a maximum capacity of 25 students and a duration of 2.5 hours, priced at €12.60.
  • Tour of the Technical Area (12 to 14 years): This activity has a capacity of 15 students for one hour, priced at €11.60.
  • Self-Guided Tour (12 to 14 years): This activity accommodates up to 100 students for a 1.5 to 2-hour visit priced at €10.10.

Summer School

Are you prepared to have an amazing aquatic adventure this summer?

Many curious things are hidden at the bottom of the water, waiting to be discovered if you can solve the entertaining game of riddles at L’Aquàrium de Barcelona.

We cordially invite you to participate in a fish stamping class, where you will learn about the marine life beneath the ocean’s surface. 

Gyotaku is an age-old Japanese method that fisherman employ as a token of their appreciation for the sea’s bounty.

Activities Included:

  • Gyotaku under the sea: It is suitable for 8 to 14-year-olds, with two groups of 25 kids each accommodated for a 1-hour session from 10:30 am to 11:30 am, priced at €15.
  • Naturalis: This activity is for children aged 3 to 8 years, accommodating up to 100 participants for a 1-hour session on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, priced at €15.
  • Self-guided tour: This option is open to all ages, accommodating up to 100 visitors for a 1.5 to 2-hour exploration, priced at €11.
