As you cannot drive up to the castle entrance, there are three ways to cover the remaining distance.
On Foot
You can easily cover the 1.5 kilometers (0.9 miles) by walking uphill to Neuschwanstein Castle. It is a moderate to difficult walk.
It will take 40 minutes to cover the entire distance.
By Carriage
If you want a faster route, you can opt for the horse carriage that departs from Hotel Muller (Alpseestraße).
It will drop you at exactly 450 meters (0.2 miles) in 20 minutes from the entrance.
From there, you will have to walk uphill for ten minutes.
By Shuttle Bus
You will find the shuttle buses at the P4 (Alpsee) parking lot.
The bus will drop you off at Marienbrucke, from where you will have to cover the ten-minute journey on foot.
